Every Last Scrap - Going Green
Posted by Robert Hendrick on Aug 31st 2015
We committed ourselves to being environmentally responsible from the word go. That meant creating an eco-friendly product with a minimal carbon footprint, and that dedication extended itself to our workshop as well.
It's enough to drive us crazy some days, but we feel it's worth it.
The imperfections in the timbers infuse our pieces with great character. But it also means that there are cuts that we just cannot put to good use in our work.
So there are small remnants - "drops," as they are called in the trade - that find their way to the scrap bin. Any untreated wood products go into our bags of firewood. If it has not got a stain or a finish on it, we figure it might as well be used to heat a home or fuel a fall bonfire.
For the dedicated barbecue enthusiasts like our friends the Charcoal Cowboys, we even go so far as to set out our hickory scraps separately.
We bag them up and keep them on hand here at the studio. We sent some home with folks after some of our events.
But you don't have to wait for an excuse like that to come by.
Just drop on in and get you some.
Thank you for helping us keep it green.
