Blue Boxcar Ladder Dining Table
Description
Each of our dinner tables featuring sections of reclaimed boxcar steel possess their own unique characteristics in terms of color and materials and bring a strong sense of historic preservation to any Industrial Modern style kitchen or dining room! The authentic wood and steel materials combine to create an heirloom quality conversation piece for gatherings of family and friends.
This dining table version features a section of blue boxcar ladder for the base topped with slabbed oak crosstie material.
We crafted the steel base from the access ladder on the end of a decommissioned railcar. Faded bits of graffiti monikers still grace the ends of the car lending further indication of the authenticity of the materials we use.
As always, the crossties we use are seconds from the tie plant, so they are naturally creosote-free. These solid 2-inch thick sections provide a strong sturdy top filled with the character of the railroad. Incisor marks line sections of the wood showing where the wood surface had been perforated to encourage the absorption of creosote. But as we mentioned, these timbers never made it to that part of the process, and are naturally eco-friendly.
Oversized at 108 inches long and 47.5 inches wide, there's plenty of room for your dining pleasure - or for game night.
As railcars are dismantled, salvage crews stack up and set aside the materials for recycling. We catch them before they get destroyed, and incorporate them into the designs we bring to our collection of fine custom furniture.
Why don’t the legs match?
We hand-selected the materials to make the table interesting from any angle and in slightly different ways.
Finish it off with a set of our Hobo Stools for one side of the table to give it an even more dramatic look and feel and show off the features of this gorgeous beast!
