ICHABOD - Quadrant (aka Partition)
Description
Executed in black oil bar with white highlights on his name, this shadowy piece from ICHABOD bears his three-letter moniker and a skull. The skull alternates between negative and positive space imagery in four quadrants with naturally-occurring rust accents. ICH loves rust.
This particular composition stands out among those created during the artist’s 2021 residency with us because it breaks from his traditional approach to defacing railcars while still bringing his familiar elements to the frame.
The front facing skull contrasts with his usual slightly turned skulls in his aerosol work. The bold ICH in upper case block letters clearly identify the vandal responsible for defacing thousands of freight cars throughout the USA over his 20+ year career.
Fashioned on a section of open top hopper railcar, the bottom framing of the car, as well as bolts and rivets remain intact with the panel.
Signed ICHABOD 2021 in the reverse in his inimitable hand style, this is a freestanding piece made for sitting atop a table or on the floor. It does not mount to the wall as many of the other pieces from the legend.
