Streamliner Bench (No. 27)
Description
Raymond Loewy, an early icon of industrial design, created the sleek and modern streamliner style locomotives for the Pennsylvania Railroad. Each featured an angular aerodynamic profile suggesting motion even at rest.
We hand craft each of our benches from reclaimed steel and a genuine railroad cross tie timber (creosote-free)
The design is simple with a long area made to comfortably fit two sturdy folks. The look is pure turn of the century industrial style.
Using authentic century-old steel materials and exclusively North American hardwoods, our Streamliner Bench makes a strong statement as seating in an office lobby or as a place in your home or mountain retreat to pull your boots on and off.
The final look and feel on our stock varies a bit with each piece and the natural character of the wood. Because the ties we use are culls (seconds that go untreated at the tie plant), we pull the individual traits and features of oak, hickory and other hardwood timbers into each bench we make.
