Streamliner Conference Table w/ Tennessee Rail
Description
This conference table as shown is a one of a kind currently available in stock.
Raymond Loewy created the sleek and stylish Streamliner locomotives for the Pennsylvania Railroad. The raked back profile provided an aerodynamic look that bestowed upon them the sense of a locomotive in motion even at rest. An early icon of the movement that began in the 1940s, many refer to Loewy as the father of Industrial Design.
We crafted the Streamliner Conference Table from repurposed and up-cycled Industrial Age steel with a deep rich patina. The brands of the original manufacturing foundry still grace the web of the rail, and dates provide proof of the age of the relics.
We fashion the base from hand-selected pieces of oak and hickory. Using culled crossties (ties that don't make grade for railroad use), we keep our products sustainably-sourced and eco-friendly. Low-VOC stains and finishes imbue the wood with an old-world feel.
Even with its rich vintage heritage, the Streamliner features a full hi-tech assortment of HDMI, CAT 5, 110v and USB charge ports for today's connected world.
We complete the piece with attention to detail using an antique railroad date nail to individually number it. Accompanied by a signed certificate of authenticity, the full story contained in the materials used will be captured to be curated by its proud new owner.
